Pastoral Care Ministry

As the parish comes to the end of our first year under the direction of Father Brian, the pastor and staff have discussed the various ministry needs of the parish.  There is one ministry, in particular, that has been very active over the last two years, providing vital services to our community.

The St. Barbara Food Pantry continues in the modest traditions set by Sister Margaret so many years ago.  Many families received much needed food assistance during COVID-19 lockdowns and many parishioners were very generous with donations.  Aida Gatch, the Director of Pastoral Services, provided leadership in ensuring that the outreach of the food pantry was available to the entire community.  The parish continues to receive supplemental donations through bi-weekly food donation drives sponsored by the Women’s Group ministry.

In February, the Medical Lending Closet was moved to a facility adjacent to the food pantry, consolidating the operations of the Pastoral Care ministry in one location.  In the new space, the Medical Lending Closet is handicap accessible and able to provide additional support to the community.

With the consolidation of the Pastoral Care Ministry, Father Brian suggested that now would be a good time to further unify the parish and rename the food pantry to the Holy Guardian Angels Food Pantry, as of July 1, 2022.

Thank you to all of our parishioners for their continued support of this ministry and the many needs of our community.
