Holy Guardian Angels Parish Food Pantry

"For I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.."

The St. Barbara Food Pantry was founded in 1980 by the St. Barbara Pastoral Care office, specifically Sister Margaret Halligan, CSJ, to answer a growing need for services in our area. Renamed to Holy Guardian Angels Food Pantry in 2022, today we are a volunteer-run food pantry operating inside the St. Barbara Parish Center. We provide emergency meals and supplemental food to families seeking help, with special attention given to senior citizens, expectant mothers, and children. Special food baskets are provided for Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, allowing families to celebrate the holidays, regardless of their economic circumstances.

All food and household items have been donated by our caring community members.

The food pantry is open by appointment on Mondays from 9:00am-3:00pm.

In Need of Food Assistance?

Schedule a food pantry appointment at foodpantry@hgaparish.org, or by phone (708) 295-7336. Appointments help keep visits organized, and we ask that you please not come to the food pantry without an appointment.

When arriving to your appointment, please bring identification showing you live within our service area. We kindly ask that you only take items that you need and can use, so we can help as many people as possible.

Looking to Donate?

Be a part of our parish ministry!

We welcome and accept non-perishable food, household and hygiene items,  and monetary donations.  Donations can be made by:

  • Drop off at the Parish Office
  • Church collections
  • Drop off during food pantry hours at the Parish Center

Monetary donations are converted to gift cards to our local grocer, Tischlers, so families can get fresh produce and dairy items. We appreciate the continued generous support of our Parish community.
