At HGA, we strive to teach our children about Jesus Christ through the teachings of His Holy Catholic Church. By using the moral, social, and theological teachings of the Church at an age-appropriate level, we want our children to come to know and love Christ fully. Each class will be taught with a curriculum and activities that enhance each student’s learning
Sacramental Preparation
Baptism: Infants and young children up through age 5 enter the Church in the Infant Baptism program. Children 6 years of age and older must attend class for one year before we will consider Baptism. (Grades 1 - 8 only)
First Reconciliation: Students are instructed in the Sacrament of Reconciliation before First Holy Communion and are given the opportunity to go to First Confession several months before First Holy Communion. (Children make their First Reconciliation in Second Grade)
First Communion: Students must attend Faith Formation classes for TWO YEARS in order to receive First Holy Communion. Older children will be placed in an age-appropriate OCIC class; but still must attend two years before First Holy Communion and may need to take a monthly supplemental class. (Children make their First Communion in Second Grade)
Confirmation: Students must attend Faith Formation classes for TWO YEARS in order to receive Confirmation. Older children will be placed in an age-appropriate OCIC class. Students must also possess knowledge of faith: Commandments, Sacraments, Bible, Christian Witness. (Children make their Confirmation in Eighth Grade)
