What is OCIC
OCIC stands for the Order of Christian Initiation of Children, a Catholic Church program for children over the age of 7 (or of catechetical age) who were not baptized, or were baptized in another Christian tradition, and wish to become fully initiated into the Catholic Church. The program educates children on key Catholic teachings and prepares them to receive the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Communion and Confirmation - often during the Easter Vigil.
Who is it for??
- Children and youth ages 7 and older.
- Unbaptized children.
- Children baptized in another Christian denomination who wish to become Catholic.
What does it do??
- Sacrament Preparation: It prepares children to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion.
- Faith Formation: It provides a comprehensive religious education, focusing on the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.
- Church Membership: It allows children to enter into Full Communion with the Catholic Church.
