Lector

The most important word that we speak is the Word of God. Lectors proclaim the Word of God to the assembly at Mass. Lectors play an important role in the Liturgy of the Word. Effectively proclaiming Scripture requires time for prayer, study and practice. Ideally, a lector should have some public speaking experience since it requires standing in front of the assembly and articulating the readings distinctly and clearly. To do this effectively, the lector must have a strong, personal faith and be able to reveal that faith through simple, natural delivery of the Word. Lectors read at daily Mass, Sundays and feast days.
